40 Book Challenge 10/20/14

Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Describe the major conflict. What side are you on?
Pages 69-108

In Allegiant the major conflict is the people from Chicago want to outrun Evelyn, Four's mother (also new leader), because her decisions aren't the best for some of the rebels there. There are two sides the people who think Evelyn is wrong and the people who follow Evelyn. The author explains to us that the people that are against Evelyn have started a group, the Allegiant.

The Allegiant have many missions, the author stats them, "In accordance with the intentions of our city's founders, we have two goals: to overthrow Evelyn and the factionless so that we can reestablish the factions, and to send some of our number outside the city to see what's out there." They have sent people out, mostly dauntless initiates, to find more Divergent people outside the city to gain the Divergent population. They then will overthrow Evelyn and her people then go back to the factions system.

Evelyn's side wants to keep everyone trapped inside the city and to have no factions. She wants to hide all the secrets on all of the factions like Jeanine Mathews wanted it, except no killing people hysterically. She has many of the people on her side including the factionless which have a big number in size. She will do anything to anyone if they try and stop her.

I personally agree with the Allegiant because they have a more free type of government. They also don't hide secrets that may even get people killed. I think it is fine to go back with the faction system instead of just being held captive in the city. They allow people to leave the city, as long as they come back.
