Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Prompt: Characterization/Conflict
0-69
In Allegiant there is many indirect and direct characterization. Indirect is based on the actions of the character. Some indirect characterization was when the author was describing that Tris was anxious because of all the over exaggeration that Christina's Mom was saying. Also, when Tris saw a bunch of girls in bright colors right away she knew that they were Amity girls because of their clothing and how they acted.
The other side is direct characterization, direct is when right away a character or the author states that the other character is happy, depresses, and etc. Some direct characterization is when Tris says that Uriah is unhappy because he lost two of his great friends. Also when Tobias describes how Tris is very depressed because of what happened with Lynn.
The setting affects the character because in Allegiant the setting is in Chicago, but not the Chicago we know. This Chicago is separated by walls so no one goes outside. So because of that it kinda drives people insane and want to go outside of the walls, and explore. It effects many of the characters thoughts and actions, the leaders of the area has rules so no one may leave the area.
The conflict in the story is the war between the people and Erudite, actually that was the conflict but the new conflict is the new leader, Evelyn, and her rules is she wants everything to go back how it was, but some people don't want that..... So there is lots of character development with Tris because she changes her point of view on life, to take less risks. Tobias changes too, he thinks differently about his mother, Evelyn.
