Two Voice Poem
Trouble By Gary D. Schmidt
Pages: 0 - 140

Henry Sanborn
I'm going to climb Mt. Katahdin.
Well I'm going with you.
I have to do this...
Alone
Yeah I know you already told me
at least one hundred times.
I have to go alone though,
in memory of my brother.
I know, but you can get killed out
there alone.
It's not like..
You'll do any better
Yeah but at least they won't be looking
for your body for six months, at least
it will be easier to find if one of us
makes it out alive.
Just shut up Sanborn before I
take you down.
I'll take you down in less than
five seconds.
Lets go then!
(Henry gets pinned to the ground, his face in the grass).
Okay I give up you got me.
Maybe next time buddy!
But you know nothing about
climbing mountains.
So, I rather go with you then
to see my best friend die alone.
We will always be best friends!
Okay, Okay fine. Thanks
for being with me in this
tough time.
That's what friends are for.
I just want to prove to my
brother that I'm better then
he sees me.
Well you will, with me by your side.
We have to be careful by the...
Sharp edge cliff
I heard that if you fall from
there you will break into
a million pieces!
Same!
I'm scared!
Well I have to do it, scared
or not!
True, because that is what your
brother would say.
Yup, that was him...
Well, lets go finish this mile
in under four minutes!
You mean I will finish in under
four minutes.
Same thing, lets go!
See you at the finish line!

3rd Quarter Reflection Blog
It's finally third quarter! Then the end of fourth quarter and school is over! Time flies fast. I have progressed and improved a lot from first quarter in many ways.
I think I have made my biggest improvement on my writing all together. I used to be really unorganized and be very redundant with my writing. Now I have learned how to do a summary that includes a topic sentence and supporting details. I also have improved on my diction when I am writing, like instead of "being confused' you can say "I'm discombobulated." Everyone needs to now how to write in about any occupation. Also I am making sure not using FANBOYS in the beginning of sentences because that is not correct grammar.Something that I am proud of that I have accomplished since the New Year was to try new stuff. I have learned to be well rounded in everything I do. Like I have been trying to advance my diction. I also have been trying new genres of books, most recently I have read a memoir called The Boy in the Wooden Box. I usually do not read any nonfiction novels because I think they are tedious but this one I have enjoyed. Now I am aware that lots of genres are very interesting.
The most challenging thing in third quarter was the Articles of the Week and making sure to read every night. The AoWs where challenging because I always had a rough time with the objective summaries. I would always add textual evidence when you aren't supposed to. I was also bad at interpreting what was happening in the passage. Also with reading every night since I was in Battle of the Books it was hard because I have a busy schedule or sometimes I am just really lazy to be honest.

"All Nighter" - Extended Metaphor Poem
It was a choice I had to make right then and there:
Stay up late on my phone or go to sleep.
If I stayed up late everyone would think I’m so cool,
but in the morning we have a test, so I’ll look like a fool.
If my parents find me on my phone they’ll get real mad.
It’s just one night.
My phone keeps ringing from all my messages,
I can’t just leave my friends behind.
It's just one night,
it will be alright.
I would be so tired in the morning
it’s a school night.
I would have to wake up at 6:00am,
if I go to bed.....
I’m going to do an ALL NIGHTER!
It’ll be so fun.
My choice was to stay up!

"The Island" - Picture Poem
She sees nothing but paradise.
The water glistens,
as if it was the cleanest mirror.
There is no work.
Something to get away from all the problems,
dragging her down to the center of the Earth.
In the morning animals fills her eyes.
In the afternoon she loves the warmth of the sun.
At night she sees the sun rise.
Where she live she see nothing but towers,
and sadly not so many flowers.
In the island she sees nature,
and the Earth in its natural beauty.
She then sees her family coming,
but then darkness fills her eyes.
It was just a dream,
a wonderful but unrealistic dream.
