Symbolism Blog

A blank canvas

Something that symbolizes me is a blank canvas.  It shows a new beginning, a fresh start someone needs. An opportunity to start over. Not literal, like if you mess up drawing a stick figure on that canvas you just go to the next one. It shows creativity and basically anything that can lead to an idea. It is a fresh slate, something is waiting to happen. That one blank canvas could be the thing you needed, a new place to just start all over. I need to start over a lot, because who's perfect? Not me for sure. But like Lennie, he and George need to start over a lot too, with the incident in Weed. It just shows a place to start whatever you want, and it's up to you how you want it to turn out. My art teacher sees a blank canvas like this, "A blank canvas is just a white polar bear in a horrible and snowy blizzard."

  1. Knowing that there are so many ways to interpret a blank canvas you did it the best. Great job!

  2. Nice blog Evie! I can see how you are comparing a blank canvas to real life, because no one is prefect and everyone messes up in a while. Good job!

  3. This was a good thing that you chose to represent you because you gave a lot of examples why it was like you. I also like how you used the example of having to start over. Good job!

  4. Nice Blog! I really liked how you explained why that symbolizes you. I also liked it when you said, "...because who's perfect?" I think it really explains the symbolism behind the blank canvas well. Overall great job!

  5. Really great job! I liked how you described what the blank canvas symbolizes in really good detail. I also liked how you added a quote from your art teacher of what she thinks a blank canvas is to her. There was a couple mistakes here and there but otherwise you did a great job!

  6. I agree with you, and John. There are a lot of ways to interpret a blank canvas. And also the quote you chose went perfectly along with the blank canvas. I liked how you interpreted it, and it is true. Life is like a blank canvas, you get to start over at times. But you have to realize, you're not always going to have the opportunity to start over.

  7. Your comparison to a blank canvas was understandable and had reasoning behind it, however, aren't their some decisions in life that can't potentially be redone? Personally, I don't feel that anyone is a blank canvas, because everyones painted it in some way through their own unique personality. You can't really just erase your definition can you? I also wouldn't want to be defined as blank, new, and ordinary, but I can definitely see why that might be a good place to start, after messing up. Great blog!

  8. After reading this, I kind of related it to one of my other ideas. I thought of a door to symbolize new starts and opportunities. You somewhat said the same thing. Great minds think alike! I also like how you interpreted the blank canvas in many different perspectives. Overall, good job.

  9. I can tell this is symbolizes you because like you said how "nobody's perfect" and thats very true as we all make mistakes. It's like learning from those mistakes can give you a clean slate or a blank canvas. Great job!

  10. I can see from your symbol that it matches you because like you said no is perfect and you might need to start over and rethink of a way to make a better decision.
