Book List Challenge

1.Rules by Cynthia Lord
Rules is one of my favorite books because it really connects to me on what I have to deal with. The main character is the older sister, Catherine, and her brother has autism. Autism is a mental disorder when you don't think or act like other people. Like when people in the book they would think of him as a very weird and crazy person. My brother has signs of autism but does not have it. He is basically a normal kid but just thinks differently. My brother is actually very smart, he just misbehaves and gets lazy.n the book, Catherine learns how to deal with his brother and I have learned how to too. This book basically gives me a different perspective on how to deal with my brother and how he thinks.

                                                        2.The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Giver is another one of my favorites because it really talks a lot about how we should enjoy the freedom we have in the USA. In this book they are very controlled and not able to make their own choices, like in some countries they are very controlled too and run a way different government than ours. In The Giver some strict rules was you could only call your dad father and your mom mother and also you can not do whatever you want, it is chosen for you. This novel helped me appreciate what I have and now I have a new perspective on this subject.

3.Divergent by Veronica Roth
Divergent is a great example of how you make your choices. In Divergent you grow up in a faction and then at a certain age you could pick what you would want to do, but you could get kicked out if you don't pass the initiation. I think it is better that now we have our own choices instead of just 5 choices and if you make the wrong choice you fail. It impacted my life with the great creativity and thought of this book, it also lets me appreciate our great american government and think about my choices more clearly and thoughtfully.

4.Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The Fault in our Stars is one of my all-time favorites, it shows compassion, love, and strength. It really impacted me on what and how people deal with cancer. It also is very devastating in a dramatic way. It is very compassionate and makes you feel sorry for people. It has impacted me on how to think and about love, because who doesn't love love.

5.Wonder by R.J Palacio
Wonder has impacted me on how people are treated different just because they are different. Auggie, the main character, has a disorder and he is faced with many challenges that he overcome. People would bully him just because he looked different for his peers. This book has showed me a new perspective on how being bullied feels, and looking different means you are treated differently. The book shows him being bullied but he ignores it and doesn't care, I really now know how people feel so I would not liked to get bullied or bully someone just based on how they looked.

                 6.Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
Gathering Blue was kinda depressing, it showed me a lot of emotions that people can feel. The main character had a messed up leg, so she couldn't do much. After her mother died she didn't know what to do, everyone in the town hated her except for her friend. Then the main board took her in to make a dress for the singer, so she was then praised. This book showed me that no matter if you have something is broken or you have a disorder that everyone has a use in this world, you just got to find it.

7.The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games has showed me that the world can be very cruel in the worst times, and that our way of life is way better than how it is in the book. Now, I always thought this world was unfair and not the land of the free, but now that I read this novel it kinda changed on what and how I thought. In the book you are chosen to fight to your death and only one person lives, so I thought that was just sick and cruel, and that is what kinda changed my thought on the subject of how our world generates.

8.The Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul by Mark Victor      Hansen, Jack Canfield, Patty Hansen
The Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul showed me many different stories of kids and their problem, so this book showed me courage, strength, fear, family, and true friends. Everyone has a story, and you get to pick the way your story ends, but not how it gets to the ending. This book had lots of sad stories about kids getting bullied, family and friend deaths, and school, it showed me a whole new perspective on everything that is kinda hard to deal with, it actually helped me think about what was happening in my social life. I love how this book shows me different kids stories so that I know I'm not the only one battling through life.

9.My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead
My Side of the mountain is basically showed me a whole new perspective on nature. I always kinda hated nature, but it is actually a beautiful thing. In this book a young teen runs away from home to live in the woods, he is faced by challenges but also loves it. He also says a lot of facts in this book on how to survive in the wild. I think that now nature is very beautiful and how many resources it has to offer us.

10.The Lightning Thief  by Rick Riordan
This novel showed me a lot of creativity in just 377 pages. This book was my first real novel I read, I loved all of the creativity and the word choice put into it. It showed action and also facts about Greek gods. This book showed me a new perspective on writing, word choice, and especially imagination that is a great piece of quality in your work.
